Papers
Avoiding motion sickness in interactive VR environments (German)
Motion sickness is a condition that represents a major obstacle to the widespread adoption of virtual reality in many areas of everyday life and industry. This thesis describes the implementation of an interactive VR application that presents methods for preventing motion sickness and is capable of deliberately inducing the condition.
Procedurally generated vegetation in AR environments (German)
This thesis describes the design and implementation of an augmented reality application in which a room is realistically overgrown with procedurally generated vegetation. The application runs on the HoloLens 2 and was developed using Unity. All vegetation within the application is either procedurally placed or entirely procedurally generated in order to adapt it to the player's environment. The application also includes simple game elements, such as receiving points for placing plants and a high-score system, with the goal of increasing user engagement and interest.
Meaningful application of AR-based educational games (English)
Video games have become easier to develop over the past few years, and augmented reality technologies have become increasingly accessible, leading to their more widespread adoption. These developments have resulted in a large number of games lacking in quality, with similar issues potentially emerging in the market for augmented reality-based learning games. This seminar paper aims to address several questions related to this issue and provide a brief overview of relevant aspects.
VR Hardware - History, current state and future developments (English)
In recent years, virtual reality technology has become established in many different areas of industry, particularly in the entertainment sector, but also in other fields such as medicine and industrial manufacturing. However, the focus is often placed primarily on software, while many aspects of the underlying hardware are neglected. This seminar paper provides a general overview of the hardware used in virtual reality systems. The work focuses primarily on the history of development, the current state of the technology, and future prospects.
